H’vovi Bhagwagar, a clinical psychologist adds, “studying abroad is definitely a life changing experience as students encounter a lot of new things every day and also become aware of changing lifestyles and cultures. but at the same time, it is also pressurising and challenging. with the growing competition, parents need to make sure that their child is not going overboard. students should not be overburdened and they should pursue activities that they can handle. also, most students take up small jobs when overseas to fund their education. parents need to make sure they mentally prepare their children for the same. the best way to do this is by introducing children to part-time or holiday jobs when they are still in school. this also teaches children the value of money.”
